Disney Spam

Disney craftily gets around unsubscribe requests for their email marketing spam.  Last year, I bought a movie that had a digital download copy included. I just signed up and got my download link. As expected, I got on the "Disney Movies" email list, but that was easily fixed by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email. It took me to a page that said it would take 10 days to remove my address... which is strange because it's just a digital database... but whatever, I figured it was done with.

Then a month later I got an email from "Disney Interactive Studios". Obviously, they're passing my email address in between the different Disney divisions now. Unsubscribe.

"Disney Living". Unsubscribe.
"Disney Store". Unsubscribe.
"Disney Destinations". Unsubscribe.
"Disney Digital Books". Unsubscribe.
"Disney Baby". Unsubscribe.
"Disney Store" (again). Unsubscribe.
"Disney Destinations" (again). Unsubscribe.
"Walt Disney Records". Unsubscribe.
"Oscar.com" (via ABC Entertainment). Unsubscribe.
"Disney Vacation Club". Unsubscribe.

So, either they're creating a new company division every time they want to send me an email, or they're just passing along my unsubscribed email address hoping I tire of this endless game of whack-a-mole.  Since I had only unsubscribed from the specific Disney division other than the one sending the email now, not Disney as a whole, they're free to bother me again.

Never have I seen a company as relentless as Disney to fill my inbox.

  2. You didn't mention the Disney Princess of the Month. It's ok, you're allowed to dream of being a princess every now and again.

    1. If "now and again" is once a month, than that's the newsletter for me!

  3. I was dealing with the exact same thing and found this thread from a Google search for "disney spam emails." I decided to track down the Disney privacy policy and found it at https://disneyprivacycenter.com/. If you click through to the full policy and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, there's a link to an e-mail address for Guest Services.

I sent an e-mail to that address requesting removal from "all marketing and promotional emails" for "all divisions of all companies in the Walt Disney family of companies and all other entities under your control." It took about a week to hear back but the reply was extremely detailed and polite, and so far I haven't gotten any more Disney spam (fingers crossed).

Hopefully this will help you and anybody else in the same boat!

  4. Same here. I bought EPCOT tickets online and the subsequent spam onslaught has been ceaseless. I've unsubscribed countless times to no avail. Thankfully I used an email alias just for Disney so I wrote a filter to move everything to that alias to the spam folder. Sheesh.

  5. Supposedly this link allows you to opt out of all Disney group emailers.
I've tried for 6months to end the spam from them.
